Pastor Jorell Turner Sr., pastor of Compassionate Hearts. Felt the calling of God to minister to his people at the age of 14, but like most and Jonah, rejected God’s initial call. Thinking he had escaped, attempted to live life on his own terms and means. Some five years later at the age of 19, God would again remind him of His mission for ministering the gospel to the world. This time God got his attention through a brief sickness. While lying flat on his back, Pastor Turner, said yes to the Lord and His call.

Pastor Turner began ministering in January of 1998. In 2004 Pastor Turner was ordained as an Elder, in the Churches of God In Christ (COGIC), where he served under great leadership in various capacities of ministry. Pastor Turner received both his Associates and Bachelors of Arts in Theology from Bethel University.

In October of 1997, Pastor Turner married Elect Lady Tangela Turner and their union was blessed with three Children. Pastor Turner once again felt the calling of God to do more for the kingdom and God’s people, while reading the 9th chapter of Matthews. Jesus began to describe the people as faint, scattered abroad as sheep having no Sheppard. Jesus goes on to challenge his disciples to pray to the Lord of the Harvest that He may send laborers into His vineyard. After much fasting and praying about God’s direction, Pastor Turner heard God asking, as he had asked Peter in John 21: 15 -17 Do you love me? After replying yes, He simply replied “Feed my sheep.” God at which time began the birthing stage of Compassionate Heart Ministry.

Pastor and Elect Lady Turner were very happily married for twenty-two years, building the lives of God’s people and instilling the word of God in them, until the untying transition of Elect Lady Tangela Turner from labor to reward in May of 2020. Though gone from earth into the presence of God, her legacy lives on, and Pastor Turner continues to minister to the world, the uncompromised gospel and love of God!
